Given the significance of our marine ecosystems as the life supporting systems of humans, there is an urgent need to mitigate the effects of threats and conserve the oceans biodiversity and ecological services. I am interested in investigating the multifaceted impacts of ocean literacy on marine conservation and how this could help aid in marine spatial planning. I seek to understand varying levels of ocean literacy among different stakeholder groups, explore the primary obstacles and challenges in promoting ocean literacy concerning marine conservation in marine spatial planning and assess how these barriers affect conservation outcomes and uncover the most impactful strategies and tools for boosting ocean literacy among diverse groups.
